I've added the TAC Lite module (http://drupal.org/project/tac_lite) to permit access control to captains only content. This can
be enabled in all sites as needed (and it probably will).

I created a vocabulary called "Visibility" and under that terms Captain, Officer, Player, Umpire. Right now the only content that has controls is captain.

Protecting a page for a group is as easy as creating the page, story, or event and selecting this category.

Users must be set to use this particular control individually. I may add a role, so it's easier to track who has it. Either way, a user who can administer users has to set this. Right now, that's just me, but I'm looking for a module to help with that.
